Visit UKSCSwearing in ceremony for Lord Snowden
Lord Snowden was today (15th June 2026) sworn in as a Justice of the Supreme Court by the Court's President, Lord Reed.
The ceremony in courtroom 1 took place in front of the other 11 Supreme Court Justices, and Lord Snowden's family and friends.
Lord Snowden was appointed to the Court following the retirement of Lord Richards.
He will also sit on the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, which hears appeals from many Commonwealth countries, as well as the United Kingdom’s overseas territories, crown dependencies, and military sovereign base areas.
