4 July 2024
Lord Reed said: "On behalf of all the judges of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council, I would like to express our profound sympathy for the people of current or former Privy Council jurisdictions in the Caribbean which have been devastated by Hurricane Beryl, or which now lie in its path."
" We are aware of the loss of life and immense destruction which has been suffered in Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados and Jamaica, and across the wider region. We also know that the hurricane is expected to hit the Cayman Islands. "
"This is a disaster for the countries worst affected. Our thoughts are with the people there, and we hope that they will receive the support they require."
