Today (13th December 2024) the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (JCPC) said "thank you and goodbye" to the Hon Dame Janice M. Pereira DBE, who has been sitting with the JCPC all this week in London.

Dame Janice, a former Chief Justice who recently retired from the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, was invited to sit with the JCPC by Lord Reed. The invitation was made possible by the gracious decision of His Majesty The King to appoint Dame Janice to the Privy Council in August.

During her week in London, Dame Janice has, with other Justices, heard several appeals from JCPC jurisdictions, and has also taken prat in the educational work of the Court, meeting with young people and answering questions from them about her work and that of the JCPC. In addition, Dame Janice was the guest of honour at a reception hosted by the Society of Caribbean Lawyers.
